Senapati accident: Body of handyman recovered

Imphal, May 16 2022:
The lifeless body of the handyman of the ill-fated Tata truck, which skidded off the bridge and plunged into Chakumai river in Senapati district, was recovered on Monday, but the driver still remains untraceable.
On Sunday, an 8-member team of Mao Police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) launched search and rescue operation at the accident site and succeeded in locating the body of the handyman, identified as Manoranjan Kumar s/o Ramlal Mahto of Cham-paran, Bihar around 4.30 pm.
However, the driver, identified as Raj Kishore Ray s/o S Ray of Kolkata, could not be found till late in the evening.
On Monday, the team again searched the location and around 1.3.0 pm recovered a severed left leg suspected to be that of the driver, but the body could not be found.
The team will continue to search in nearby area on Tuesday.
