CM Biren attends Yoga Mahotsav 2023

Imphal, March 13 2023: Chief Minister N Biren participated in the inaugural ceremony of a three-day Yoga Mahotsav 2023 to commemorate 100 days countdown to International Day of Yoga, which was inaugurated by union minister of Ayush Sarbananda Sonowal at Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi on Monday.

Ministry of Ayush along with Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) is organising the Yoga Mahotsav from March 13-14 at Delhi's Talkatora Indoor Stadium, and Post Mahotsav Yoga workshops on March 15 at MDNIY.

Speaking on the occasion, chief minister N Biren remarked, "Manipur University, in Imphal, was one of the six central universities selected to start Yoga department by the committee on Yoga education in Universities, Ministry of Human Resources and Development.

Since then Yoga day is celebrated across the plains and hills of the state.

Various organisations including educational, health, security forces participate in large number".

He also took the opportunity to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the initiative taken up by the BJP government in the northeast states including Manipur and instilling a sense of belongingness among the people of the region by establishing emotional connection with the mainland India.
