Imphal, February 06 2022: Chungkham Bijoy, who contested the last assembly election on National People's Party (NPP) ticket, has joined the BJP on Saturday.

Bijoy was accorded a warm welcome by CM N Biren Singh and Patsoi AC BJP candidate Sapam Keba by presenting a stole of the party.

Speaking to newspersons on Sunday in this regard, Bijoy conveyed that he bid adieu to NPP after witness ing the incompetency of the party's state leaders and increasing acts of corruption, leading to degradation of the party's ideology.

He then clarified his reason for joining BJP, stating that he saw no hope in other parties.

As he used to be the state councillor of BJP Manipur Pradesh back in 2015, it is just like retiming to one's own home, he said.

Appreciating the people oriented works undertaken by the CM Biren-led government, he hoped for continuation of the present state government.

Me also pledged to working for the people of Patsoi constituency, although he would not be contesting the polls this time.
