Ex-Manipur CJ Ramalingam appointed NCLT prez

The Central government has appointed Justice (retired) Ramalingam Sudhakar, the former Chief Justice of Manipur High Court, as the president of National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), for a period of five years or till he attains the age of 67 years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Justice Ramalingam was born on February 14, 1959 and hails from Panapakkam Village, Vellpre district in Tamil Nadu.
He was elevated to the Bench as an Additional Judge of High court of Madrasdras on December 10, 2005.As a Judge of Madras High Court, during his tenure as Judge he decided 26196 Main Cases and 32943 Miscellaneous Cases.
Apart from his judicial duties, Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar has taken a proactive role in providing various infrastructures for speedy adjudication of disputes.
NCLT was previously under the supervision of its acting president Bethala Shanta Vijaya Prakash Kumar.
In addition to the appointment of the president of National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), the Central Government also appointed the chairperson for National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT).
According to an order of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs on Friday, Justice (retired) Ashok Bhushan has been appointed the new chairperson of NCLAT for a period of four years or till he attains the age of 70 years, whichever is earlier.
Justice Ashok Bhushan, who retired as a Supreme Court Judge on July 2 this year, was part of several important judgments including the 2019 Ayodhya Ramjanmabhoomi title Suit, the 2018 Aadhaar verdict, the 2021 'One Nation, One Ration Card' scheme, the 2021 loan moratorium order and the 2021 striking down of the Maratha quota via SEBC.
Justice Bhushan was to retire on July 4, but it was advanced to July 2 due to his mother's demise.
He joined the Supreme Court as a Judge on May 13, 2016 and was Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court from 2015 .
