Imphal, May 30 2023:
Indigenous People's Front Manipur (IPFM) has questioned Union Home Minister Amit Shah wheth-er he is unaware about Kuki militants under SoO pact indulging in narco-terror-ism with the ultimate aim to create a separate homeland.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here on Tuesday, IPFM advisor Jagat Thoudam pointed out that the conflict that be-gan from Churachandpur and Moreh areas on May 3, claimed several lives and de-stroyed properties could have averted had the Assam Rifles intervened and controlled the situation.
It is disturbing that Amit Shah is feigning ignorance about dereliction of the duty by the Assam Ri-fles as one of the factors for the present restive situation, he added.
While opining that the home minister should ac-knowledge that frontal organisations of Kuki SoO militants have been making hostile gestures against the majority community over religious sites, historical areas and protected sites for a protracted period, the Front contended that SoO militants especially the KNA/ KNO have grown in size and strength in Manipur under the protection of Assam Ri-fles.
Moreover, Assam Rifles al-lowed establishment of several camps of Kuki militants other than the designated camps, he alleged and accused the pars-military force of abet-ting influx of Kuki immigrants from Myanmar and allowing illegal poppy cultivation in encroached areas.
Informing that thousands of displaced Meiteis of Chu-rachandpur, Moreh, Motbung and Ekou have no second home to fallback unlike others who have been displaced from Imphal, Jagat Thoudam said that the present crisis in Mani-pur is execution of narco-ter-rorism for creating a homeland led by Kuki So0 militant outfits funded by money from poppy plantation, opium manufac-turing and drugs smuggling which the Union Home Min-ister should be both aware and worry about.
