Imphal, November 23 2021:
Manipur State Pensioners' Union (MSPU) vice president L Sarat has appealed to the state government to release at the earliest the backlogged pension benefits amounting to Rs 500 crore to employees who have retired in last two years.
Addressing a press meet held at Pensioners' Shanglen, Pishumthong on Tuesday, L Sarat stated that pensioners are facing huge problems as they have not received their rightful pension benefits after retirement from service.
Pension benefits that the government is yet to release include GPF final withdrawal, leave salary, arrear payment, etc.
Government may have some issues regarding the payment, but it should release the benefits as early as possible, considering the difficulties faced by the pensioners, he added.
Sarat further mentioned that a meeting of pensioners will be held at the Shanglen to discuss the issues besetting the pensioners at 2 pm on November 30 .
