Minister stresses proper grooming of kids

Pointing out the importance of social service and co-existence, education minister Th Basantakumar has stressed the need for infusing the sense of service from young age, especially during school education in order to bring peace, tranquillity and development in the society.
He made the remark at the inauguration of four classrooms of Laphupat Tera Government Aided High School on Monday constructed under the initiative of Mayang Imphal MLA and MANIDCO chairman Kongkham Robindro.
Speaking on the occasion, Basantakumar assured to explore possibilities of upgrading the aided school to a full-fledged government high school and also commended MLA Robindro for taking the responsibility of constructing the classrooms even though the government is yet to release the MLA local area development fund.
The minister further spoke on the importance of grooming students in order to make them socially responsible individuals.
He also talked on the reason behind the No School Bag day policy of the government, which could be utilised for teaching extra-curricular activities among the students, and urged retired teachers to visit their nearby schools and give advice on important life lessons.
MLA Robindro, who presided over the function, said that constructed the classrooms on seeing the dilapidated condition of the school and clarified that his initiative has nothing to do with vote bank politics.
While noting backwardness of the constituency in various sectors, he assured of filling up the gaps even though it might take some time to cover all those sectors and areas.
Meritorious students of the school were also encouraged by the MLA by presenting bicycles on the occasion.
Laphupat Tera Komlakhong GP former pradhan Ningthoujam Basanta, ZEO Wangoi Y Bimochand and additional director of education (S) Biseshwar were also present at the event.
