JAC warns of 48-hr total shutdown

Imphal, July 15 2021:
JAC of National Highways Expansion Affected Land Owners has cautioned of imposing total shutdown for 48 hours from July 22 if the government fails to fulfill its demands by July 21 .
In a statement released by its president, the JAC recounted that the government was already informed about the inconveniences faced by affected land owners of Mantri Leikai, Khonghampat, Pheidinga, Tendonyang, Maharabi, Sekmai and Kanglatongbi areas but no remedial measures have been taken up till date.
Among the demands, the JAC is urging for revocation of the compensation order issued by Imphal West DC as not only is it out of date, but also way below the true value of the state and private lands.
In addition, the landowners have been demanding for re-survey of the land and complaints for the same have already been forwarded to the authorities concerned.
As such, the JAC cautioned of imposing a 48-hour total shutdown in areas under its jurisdiction from July 22 if its demands were not fulfilled by July 21 .
