AR joins Swarnim Vijay Varsh celebrations

The Swarnim Vijay Mashaal (Golden Victory Flame) commemorating 50 years of India's victory over Pakistan in 1971, which was flagged off from the National War Memorial, New Delhi by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 16, 2020 reached Laitkor Garrison of the Directorate General of Assam Rifles Headquarters at Shillong on Monday.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the flame was handed over by Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik to DGAR Lt Gen PC Nair at the Governor House and thereafter it commenced its journey to the Laitkor Garrison.
As part of the celebration, Assam Rifles organised a victory run of 5 km at Laitkor Garrison which was attended by all ranks and families of the Force followed by a special programme where the young and enthusiastic participants were given details of the Indi an Army's historic victory in the 1971 war and purpose of victory flame, said the PRO adding that the victory flame will continue its journey from Laitkor to the 101 Area for next phase of celebrations.
