'Assam Rifles-Manipur University Webinar' held

HQ IGAR (South) under the aegis of DGARjointly hosted the 'Assam Rifles and Manipur University Webinar' on July 27 .
The webinar was conducted on the theme "Bridging the Hill-Valley Aspirations: Prerequisite for Peace and Stability in Manipur" .
The webinar was hosted by Prof S Sanatombi Singha, Former Vice Chancellor on behalf of Manipur University and keynote address was delivered by GK Pillai, IAS (retired), former Home Secretary, Government of India, said a statement of IGAR(S) .
The webinar also saw participation from a number of serving senior Army and Civil Administration Officers, faculty of many Universities including Manipur University, Army veterans and prominent personalities of Media and intellectual domain.
Lt Gen PC Nair, AVSM, YSM, Director General Assam Rifles delivered a talk on "Geo-Political Analysis of Manipur: Need for Settling Internal Conflict to Build Better Future Tomorrow".
The Director General highlighted the role of Manipur as a Fulcrum to the India's Role in the "Asian Century" wherein the State needs to take a lead by developing a robust economy and infrastructure for which it is essential to overcome the various internal differences by focusing on the opportunities and harnessing its soft power.
Prof S Mangi Singh; Prof Ringkahao Horam and Prof Ch Priyoranjan Singh of Manipur University; Prof Binota Meinam, Chairperson of Manipur State Commission for Women; Army Veterans including Lt Gen (Dr) K Himalaya Singh, Advisor & Visiting Faculty, Manipur University; Lt Gen CA Krishnan and renowned author JaideepSaikia also participated the webinar.
This was the second webinar post the signing of MoU between Assam Rifles and Manipur University on March 6, 2021 for establishing 'Assam Rifles Chair of Excellence' for a period of three years, under which apart from funding of research in field of Conflict Studies, National Security, Socio-economy and Cultural fields also included conduct of Joint Seminars and Round Table Discussions, it added.
The attendees included the top brass of Manipur Civil Administration, Assam Rifles, various think tanks, faculty and students of Manipur University, faculty of multiple National Universities, cadets from NCC Manipur and media persons.
