MHRC seeks report

Manipur Human Rights Commission (MHRC) has sought a report from the state government in connection with the incident that took place in Heirok on the night of December 22.The Commission had taken up a sou moto case of the incident based on the reportage in local dailies under Section 12 of Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 .
The law officer of MHRC acted as the complainant, while chief secretary, DGP, District Magistrate Thoubal, SP Thoubal, OC Heirok PS, MLA Heirok Th Radheshyam and ex-MLA Moirangthem Okendro have been listed as respondents.
During the hearing of the case on Thursday, the Commission issued a notice through its registry to the DGP, District Magistrate Thoubal and SP Thoubal informing that MHRC would be visiting the spot in question on December 26 at 11 am .
As such, it directed the four respondents to submit an action taken report to the Commission by December 30, while fixing the next hearing date of the case on December 30 .
