AR accused of aiding Kuki militants

Villagers of Sekmai alleged that the Assam Rifles (AR) personnel are taking the side of Kuki militants.
Speaking to this daily, one Chanambam Sanjoy of Sekmai Mamang Leikai contended that AR personnel are clearing the path for movement of Kuki militants in Sekmai area consequently leading to armed Kuki militants attacking Sek-mai Mamang Leikai on May 27 and 28 might and torching of houses.
The armed militants were given free passage by the ARpersonnel stationed at Motbung around 8am of May 29 after clearing their routes, he claimed and informed that Kuki militants taking positions at Luwang Sangol village by construct-ing bunkers and attacking the Meiteis in Sekmai area were in touch with the AR personnel.
Some AR personnel came to the site and met with the Kuki militants and cleared the way as desired by the militants, Sanjoy asserted.
He also said that armed Kuki militants op-erating along the stretch from Luwangshangol and Phailen villages are staying at the Damdei Christian College.
It may be recalled that Kuki militants descended from Luwangshangol village and attacked vil-lagers in the foothills of Sekmai Mamang Leikai following which villagers fled the area.
The armed Kuki militants also destroyed the Bamboo Inn, a picnic spot and a local cattle farm.
