Thoidingjam Tombi's solo art exhibition opened

A retrospective solo art exhibition based on works of Poknapham daily's art critic and Lalit Kala Akademi awardee Thoidingjam Tombi opened at I Art Gallery, Thgangmeiband Lourung Purel Leikai, here, on Wednesday.
The solo art exhibition, which is being organised by I Art Gallery, will continue till January 30 and paintings of the imminent artist Tombi from the year 1954 to 2021 are being exhibited for public viewing.
The inaugural function of the exhibition was attended by former commissioner (art & culture) RK Nimai as chief guest and director (art & culture) L Kishorjit Singh as president.Speaking at the event.
RK Nimai opined that though Manipur is rich in the field of art and culture and carved a niche for itself in performing arts the same cannot be said in visual art.
There are some signs of diminishing aesthetic in art that needs to be taken care.
In the past 10 years or so, there has been improvement in graph ic and sculpture art as there is no dearth of talent among students, he said and stressed the need for young students to bring out innovative art works.
He also advised young art stir dents to go along with new technologies.
