Retirees among 11 MPS promoted to IPS cadre

Union Ministry of Home Affairs has promoted 11 Manipur Police Service cadres including retired ones to Indian Police Service cadres.
As per an order issued on January 19, the Ministry effected promotion of 11 MPS officers to IPS rank.
They include select list of 2016 comprising Joyce Lairemmawi.
M Rajen Singh (retired), L Nanglianthang (retired), Sh Jugeshwor Sharma & S Somorjit Singh; select list of 2017 consisting of M Mubi Singh; select list of 2018 comprising L Deben Singh, A Ghanashyam Sharma, I Chitaranjan Singh (retired) & Mangkhojang Kipgen (retired) and select list of 2019 containing names of L Deben Singh & K Ajit Kumar Sharma.
In case of L Deben Singh, the promotion is on provisional basis which is subject to clearance in criminal proceedings pending against him and grant of integrity certificate by the state government, it added.
The order also mentioned that the select list will be subject to the outcome of the curative petition filed by the state government against the judgement of Supreme Court of India issued on November 19, 2019, in connection with the civil appeals filed regarding seniority of the officers of MPS.
It can be mentioned that various civil appeals had been filed from 2013 onwards in connection with seniority of MPS cadres between direct and promoted MPS officers, after which the Supreme Court in its judgement dated November 19, 2019 ordered that the said 11 MPS officers including the retired ones should be promoted to IPS cadre substantively.
