Kukis found listed in Keirao AC, PMGAY

After detecting names of four people belonging to the Kuki tribe in the beneficiary list of Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) under Chanam Sandrok polling station of Keirao assembly constituency, names of three more people from the same tribe were found in the electoral roll besides five others in PMJAY beneficiary list of Keirao Wangkhem polling station of the constituency.
An Irilbung police team carried out verification drive in four locations adjacent to Jesus Christ Baptist Church in Keirao Wangkhem during which one person was found in possession of two Aadhaar cards.
The QR codes printed on the Aadhaar cards did not yield any result when scanned by the police.
A woman from among them said that she is from Mizoram but she did not produce any identification document or ILP pass.
Police arrested five people from there and took them to the police station for initiating legal actions.
Police also asked those Indian citizens from other states to apply for ILP pass from the DC concerned.
Later, police arrested two local residents of Keirao assembly constituency - namely Dhaballo and Suresh, for their alleged involvement in inserting names of non-locals in the electoral roll and FIR has been registered against the duo.
Names of the three Kuki electors registered in the electoral roll of Keirao Wangkhem are VL Chhunga (53) son of Liansaia, his wife Ramthar-mawii (44), and Laltanpuii (53), daughter of Hramliana.
On the other hand, the four people found included in the beneficiary list of PMJAY are Kh Paolemlian, Kh Sanglun, Kh Hatkim, Kh Paolunthang and Laltanpui.
Interacting with the media in this regard, Langdum United Youth Organisation general secretary Rupachandra Chongtham drew attention of the government for taking up appropriate legal actions against whoever is involved in inserting names of the non-locals in the electoral roll and PMJAY beneficiary list.
Further involvement in such activities by any resident of the area will be banished, he declared.
Meanwhile, Gamma Club and Meira Paibi organisation of Chanam Sandrok held a press meet at the club premises on Friday morning, during which club secretary Mutum Ajitku-mar demanded the government to investigate the matter of enlisting four Kuki individuals in the PMJAY beneficiary list of the village.
