Discourse on economy, entrepreneurship held

Economic and Resources Development Organisation (ERDO), Kangleipak organised a two-day long discourse on 'Manipuri economy, challenges and entrepreneurship' at Institute of Cooperative Management (ICM), Lamphelpat on Sunday.
On the first day, various experts took part in the discourse and different resolutions were adopted for revival of the state's economy after the Covid-19 pandemic.
The resolutions include identifying the shortcomings in the household income, which is the backbone and driving force of the state along with agriculture and allied sectors, tourism, handloom and handicraft; and opportunities available post-Covid for improving the state's economy with experts and relaying the same to the people.
Another resolution called for increasing budget literacy among the masses, for the state government to review policies not included in the state's budget and ascertain which polices would best suit the sectors after properly assessing their condition post-Covid.
Studying the funds and annual expenditure of the state's budget and identifying the problem areas; how experts in each sector could help improve the deficit in GSDP; producing white papers on irrigation and public accountable; formulation of a 5-year banking policy for public accountable saving; and lastly organising a public discourse to help in setting up a pre-budget drafting committee by experts over the aforementioned and sending a recommendation on the same to the state government and policy for the ongoing financial year, were some of the other resolutions that were adopted.
The discourse was also attended by MU Prof and CSSSEIP head E Bijoykumar Singh, Dr Chinglen Maisnam (Associate Professor), L Dwijamani (retired GM DIC), Prof Y Chakraborty (Department of Economics, MU), Uttar Luwang (manager SBI, Ukhrul), P Loken (chairman MIDC), Pradeep Phanjoubam (senior journalist), Naorem Iboton Singh (retired Dean CAU and advisor ERDO), MS Khaidem (retired Joint director) and ERDO president T Sanajaoba.
