As a part of the Azadi ka Amrit and Pan-India awareness and outreach programme, District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) under the aegis of Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) launched a 15-day door-to door campaign.
The campaign was launched by chairpersons on Saturday morning, with MASLSA member secretary Ojesh Mutum launching the campaign in Kamjong district.
During the fortnight long campaign, 350 para legal volunteers and 2580 villagers would be utilised for conducting free legal aid services at Montu, Mathang, Lambui, Shangshak, Lungreipnung, Shinga, Nungpok Khullen, Puntha, Kangpat, Hangkao, Kongkan, Pushing, Lakhan,Chakrik and other areas of the district.
Speaking on the occasion, MASLSA executive chairman Justice KH Nobin emphasised on the need to work hard and provide the highest level of legal aid services to those who are in dire need.
The campaign plans to identify 3,30,000 vulnerable people, with a single PLV or legal aid clinic helping to identify 3000 beneficiaries.
During the campaign, audio-visual methods will be used along with mobile vans.
Additionally, special micro legal service camps will be organised across the state.
On the other hand, as part of the programme, District and Sessions Judge cum chairman DLSA Senapati Samom Ibjen, SP Kangpokpi Karthik Maladi, secretary DLSA cum CJM Senapati Tarunimala and Additional Public Prosecutor to District and Sessions Jude Senapati Koshiyo flagged off a rally from DC Office Kangpokpi complex.
During the campaign, PLVs of the two districts distributed pamphlets to people going from door-to-door.
The main aim of the campaign is to spread more awareness about free legal aid.
Meanwhile, DLSA Imphal West organised a door-to campaign at Cheirap Court complex here on Saturday.
The launch function was attended District and Sessions Judge Imphal West cum chairman DLSA A Guneshwar, CJM Imphal West cum secretary Y Somorjit, advocate Rk Imoba, retainer lawyers, front office DLSA and PLVs of Imphal West.
