Imphal, June 16 2022:
Around 600-metre long IVR (inter-village road) connecting PHC Mayang Imphal bazar and Mayang Imphal police station is being developed with RCC instead of the conventional black-topping on trial basis under the initiative of local MLA K Robindro.
Regarding development of the IVR with RCC (12 feet wide), MLA K Robindro said that the roads in Mayang Imphal assembly constituency do not last long due to its proximity to Loktak lake, low lying areas and frequent flooding.
Freshly black topped roads in the constituency got damaged even during a heavy spell of rain and this prompted him to look for alternative way and hence started developing the roads with RCC, he said, adding that some IVRs in densely populated areas of Mayang Imphal will be developed in the same way if the trial is successful.
According to MLA K Robindro, development work for the state highways, other district roads (ODRs) and IVRs in Mayang Imphal would begin after the end of rainy season.
He also appealed to land owners to cooperate and not to disrupt when government starts road expansion works in the constituency.
