Noney, September 13 2022:
The Imphal-Jiribam section of National Highway-37 was cut off on Tuesday for some hours due to a landslide that occurred between K Sinam and T Laijang villages under Kangpokpi district.
Many vehicles including passenger buses, loaded and empty trucks were left stranded on both sides of the road as road construction workers tried to restore vehicular traffic.
The landslide debris were eventually cleared by road construction company, Ganpati Company, which is responsible for Double Lan-ing of the national highway section.
The Ganpati team used their machinery and equipment to clear off the landslide debris.
According to K Sinam village chief Paolet Kipgen, the quality of road maintenance work in between 32 to 37 km has been very poor, which also is the cause of the landslide.
