Kakching, July 10 2021:
Joint Non-Government Voluntary Organisation (JNGVO), Kakching has urged authority concerned to ensure timely distribution of fertilisers, urea in particular, to farmers of Kakching district as the time has almost lapsed for application of fertilisers in the paddy fields.
In a release, JNGVO publicity secretary Romesh Naorem stated that sowing of paddy crops has been done in most of the fields in the district, but at this time when the crops need urea farmers are finding it hard to get them.
Kakching farmers are in precarious situation as they have to go to District Agricultural Office, Thoubal for procuring urea bag which is highly crowded from early morning with scant regard for Covid-19 SOPs.
It is unnecessary burdening of farmers who have to waste their time and money when they should be working in their fields, it noted.
JNGVO further said that authorities should implement the process of distribution carried out last year where the required urea bags for Kakching district were kept at Kakching Lamdong godown and later distributed on constituency wise basis.
The government must also regulate the price of urea which is reaching f Rs 700-800 in the market, the release further urged.
