Imphal, May 10 2021:
Lamding Educated Welfare Association (LEWA) and Youth Development Club (YDA) Lamding Cherapur contended that the construction company is liable to be fixed responsibility for ambulance accident that occurred on Sunday around 8 PM near HDFC Bank Thoubal and death of the patient who was being carried to Imphal.
In a joint release, LEWA and YDA stated that the accident occurred when the ambulance carrying one Sorokhaibam Amuba from Lamding Cherapur for treatment in Imphal fell in a ditch dug up for culvert construction.
There were no warning signs put up at the work site in-spite of the fact that the road is one of the busiest routes in the state, the bodies noted, adding that the accident delayed timely treatment and consequent demise of the patient around 1 am Monday.
The bodies also blamed the construction company and maintained that it should be held responsible for the incident leading to the death of the patient.
They also appealed to Thoubal DC to look into the matter and to make ensure that work agencies do the needful to avert such mishaps in the future.
