Imphal, December 08 2021:
The proscribed Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) has clarified that the outfit has no connection whatsoever with Yumkhaibam Bimol, son of late Kulla of Lilong Arapti Maning Leikai, who was arrested by a team of Imphal West district police commando from his house on December 7 without any reason but branded him as 'overground worker' of KYKL in reports carried by local print and electronic media the next day.
The media reports were based on cooked up story of police and Bimol (61) is neither an 'overground worker' of KYKL nor known to the outfit, a KYKL statement issued by its publicity and research secretary A Yaiphaba said.
On the same day Bimol was arrested by police commandos, her daughter Tampha told media persons at Manipur Press Club that her father was arrested for speaking in an 'election meeting' of Yaiskul assembly constituency intending candidate Thounaojam Brinda, the statement said and reaffirmed to the people and the government that KYKL is an organisation which does not have faith in India's electoral politics.
KYKL is an armed organisation fighting to restore sovereign status of Kangleipak (Manipur) from Indian occupation and the outfit had never taken part in Indian-sponsored election held in the past and will not take part in such elections in future too.
Apart from appealing to people and government to understand that there should not be any relation between KYKL and Brinda's candidacy in Yaiskul assembly constituency for the upcoming election, A Yaiphaba urged the people to remain alert from Manipur police and government's continuing strategies to tarnish image of revolutionary movement in Kangleipak.
