Imphal, May 06 2022:
Expressing concern over the hardships faced by affected land owners on both sides of NH102 due to non issuance of necessary notifications regarding rate for land acquisition and compensation, National Highway New Alignment Affected Land Owners' Committee has appealed to the authority concerned to issue the relevant notifications and provide the compensation at the earliest.
In a statement, the committee informed that following an order of the High Court of Manipur, DC Thoubal had issued a notification on April 12, 2021 and conducted re-survey of the land affected by expansion of the highway from Lilong to Wangjing.
On October 18, 2021, the DC assured of issuing the relevant notifications for land acquisition and rate of land as per the latest survey so that the government could pay the land compensation and affected land owners could remove their structures accordingly.
However, the district administration has not issued the relevant notifications till date even as NHIDCL and GR Infra Projects Limited are in advance stage of their work and started surface levelling without considering the plights of the affected land owners, who are either living or running business along the highways.
The situation has caused severe inconveniences to the houses, shops and other establishments along the highway, especially during rainfall as rainwater seeps into their houses from the higher level of the highway.
Taking serious note of the situation, the committee appealed to the district administration to issue the relevant notifications and the authority concerned to pay the compensation so that the affected land owners can relocate from there before the onset of monsoon season.
