700 Yongchak saplings planted at Nongmaiband village

As part of its efforts to save environment, prevent environmental degradation and achieve the goal of food crop sufficiency in the state, Green Resistance Manipur planted 700 saplings of Parkia Speciosa (Yongchak), commonly known as tree-bean, at Nongmaiband village in Lamlai AC and its surrounding areas on Sunday.
Regarding the plantation drive, young environmental activist and Green Resistance Manipur president Ambika Laishram said that people of the state are now facing the brunt of deforestation and climate change.
Ever since its establishment, Green Resistance Manipur has taken up various plantation drives at various areas with the main objective to save environment and the drive continued on Sunday at Nongmaiband village.
She said that farming is the main activity of the villagers of Nongmaiband and plantation of Yongchak saplings will help improve economy of the village and accordingly planted the saplings.
