AR, CRPF units celebrate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas'

Assam Rifles and CRPF units on Sunday celebrated 'Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day)' to mark the 146th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
In a release, PIB (Defence) informed that 44 Assam Rifles of 22 Sector/IGAR (East) organised an oath taking ceremony followed by a unity run at Tamenglong and T Waichong.
The event started from Jadonang Park in Tamenglong town and was marked by paying of floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The five km unity run traversed through main market of the town and finished with patriotic songs by battalion's jazz band, it added.
The release mentioned that a similar run at T Waichong sub-divisional HQ was participated by 40 students.
A painting competition on the theme 'Unity in Diversity' was also organised by the battalion at Dikhuiram with the participation of around 50 students.
Meanwhile, in separate releases, 69 Bn CRPF, Group Centre CRPF Langjing and 89 BN CRPF conveyed that 'Rashtriya Ekta Diwas' was celebrated by their officers and personnel at their respective unit headquarters on Sunday.
The programmes were marked by 'Run for Unity', tree plantation, ceremonial march-past, cleanliness drive and taking of integrity pledge by the officers and troops, the releases added.
Noney Battalion Assam Rifles of 22 Sector AR of IGAR (East) also organised a plantation drive at Tupul village CC-III, Noney district on Sunday to celebrate "Rastriya Ekta Divas".
The drive was carried out with an aim to celebrate the 'Rastriya Ekta Divas' and foster the bond between the local populace and the security forces and also to promote and strengthen the peace and harmony in the region.
During the event, the villagers also took a pledge to maintain and preserve the ecological balance and biodiversity.
A total of 175 saplings were planted during the drive by troops of Assam Rifles and youth club members of the villagers.
During the event youths were also educated on the role of 'Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel' in the integration of modern India.
Similarly, Churachandpur and Kakching Sectors of IGAR (S) organised various events with the locals to celebrate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas at Churachandpur, Bishnupur, Noney, Kakching and Chandel districts from October 28 to 31 .
As part of the event an impressive march past alongside a pledge taking ceremony to enhance the sense of unity were carried out at multiple locations including Kakching, Sajik Tampak, Joupi, Sehlon and others, informed PRO IGAR(S).
A painting competition for children and friendly volleyball matches for youth were also conducted.
The importance of national integration and the great service to the nation done by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron-man of India, was also shared with the attendees, it added.
