Club warns stir over boundary row

Imphal, February 27 2023:
While informing that some Tamenglong denizens are staking claim on parts of Leishabithol and Nungkhal villages of Jiribam district settled by Bishnupriya Manipuris, Leishabithol & Nungkhal Shining Club has demanded the government to resolve the issue at the earliest.
In a statement, the club informed that Bishnupriya Manipuris have been residing in the two villages since 1948 and possessing land documents (patta) and Dag Chitha to prove land ownership in the two villages of Jiribam district.
However, residents of Tamenglong district began to claim ownership of the village areas and began cutting down trees as well as imposed restrictions on the Bishnupriya people from entering certain parts of the villages.
It further informed that they had apprised about the situation to the DC and SP of Jiribam district on numerous occasions but no initiatives have been taken up till date.
Demanding early solution to the boundary row, the club warned of launching various forms of agitations including blocking the Leishabithol to Vangaichungpao road if the government continues to ignore the issue.
