Incessant rains continue to lash Noney, Tamenglong

Noney, May 19 2022:
Due to incessant downpour for the last two weeks, normal life in Noney and Tamenglong districts has been badly affected with fresh landslides and mudslides reported at different locations on Thursday.
Among others, half a portion of the slab culvert near CRPF camp at Khongshang has caved in.
As a precautionary measure, police have restricted opera tion of all heavy loaded vehicles through the culvert except for light vehicles until the.
culvert is fully repaired.
The CRPF personnel along with police are also monitoring the movement of vehicles so as to avoid any untoward accidents during the said period.
More landslides and mudslides were also reported at many places especially along Tamenglong-Tamei road and Tamenglong Khongshang road while inter-village roads have also been blocked due to landslides near Lukhambi Bazar and along the Noney-Haochong road.
However, the landslide debris have been partially cleared by NHIDCL, a construction company, by late Thursday evening.
In many parts of both dis tricts, power supply remains cut-off and telecommunication badly affected while major rivers like Ijei, Iril, Irang, Barak, Makru and Leimatak are also flowing above the danger mark.
