State observes World Food Day

In commemoration of the day Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) was formed, the Directorate of Agriculture observed World Food Day under the theme 'Leave No One Behind', at the farmers' training hall of the directorate office located near Sanjenthong in Imphal East district on Sunday.
Agriculture director N Gojenaro, additional director Todinang Panmei and deputy director N Nilamani attended the event as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, deputy director Ak Chittaranjan explained about the formation of FAO under the United Nations Organisation (UNO) and how the World Food Day observance began around the globe while director N Gojendro stressed the need for adopting new technology in agriculture in order to boost productivity to meet the growing demand of food in proportion to the growing population.
While stating that main objective of observing the day is to spread the message of food production to meet the increasing demand, the director called for concerted efforts to boost food production capacity of the state and also commended the farmers for their hard works.
