Man accused in sexual assault case traceless

Imphal, October 05 2021:
A 55-year old man is alleged to have sexually assaulted an 11-year old differently abled young girl in an area under Thoubal police station.
The accused has been identified as Thoubalmayum Rafijuddin alias Muthin, son of late Mahei of Thoubal Moijing Thoubalmayum Leikai.
Speaking to media persons, family members of the victim narrated that they (family) searched for the girl around 1.30 pm on October 1 as she was found missing from home.
The victim was found sexually assaulted by Rafijuddin on the banks of Thoubal River at Thoubal Moijing Thoubalmayum Leikai.
The culprit managed to escape by crossing the river.
A complaint has been registered in this regard at Thoubal Women police and JAC formed, the family members informed, while lamenting that the culprit has not been arrested by the police till now.
The family members urged the police to arrest the culprit and award stringent punishment.
According to police, a complaint was registered on October! and a POCSO case has been taken up for investigation.
The victim was medically examined and produced in front of the Child Welfare Committee.
The police are on the hunt to arrest the culprit, it added.
Meanwhile, Woman Action for Development, Youth Forum for Protection of Human Rights and United NGO Mission Manipur have demanded the authorities concerned to arrest the culprit and give stringent punishment so that such incidents do not recur.
