44 AR observes Shaheed Diwas

Imphal, January 30 2022:
To mark the death anniversary of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and pay homage to the freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the country's independence, 44 Assam Rifles of 22 Sector AR/IGAR (East) celebrated Shaheed Diwas on Sunday.
According to a statement issued by PIB (Defence) Imphal, a walkathon was organised from Jadonang Park, Tamenglong in remembrance of.Mahatma Gandhi who led the nation non-violently to attain independence and inspired numerous other movements for civil rights and freedom around the world.
Tamenglong AR battalion commandant flagged off the walkathon to spread the message of unity, peace and non-violence as professed by the Father of the Nation.
The walkathon finished at the battalion Helipad, where floral tributes were paid to the Maihatma and other martyrs of the nation.
Two-minute silence was observed in memory of Indian martyrs.
It was also pledged to preserve, protect and enrich the hard earned freedom and promote a sense of national integration and commitment for inclusive development in the region, the statement added.
