Kangpokpi, July 27 2021:
A joint meeting was held today between the Government officials led by the Commissioner (Revenue) and senior police officials led by L Kailun, ADGP, and the affected residents of the land acquisition for expansion of NH-2 under packages 4B and 5A at Conference Hall, DC Kangpokpi District today.
The meeting was also attended by the Commissioner Works), Government of Manipur, Clay Khongsai, ADGP, Angam Kamei, DIG, Range-4, SP Kangpokpi, and leaders of AHLAVCCA, Kangpokpi District Joint Chiefs' Coordinating Committee on Land Matters, TSA Sadar Hills, and All Manipur Gorkha Students' Union Kalapahar Unit.
During a press conference held after the meeting, AHLAVCCA's Assistant Spokesperson, Thanglen Kipgen said, "we had already announced that unless the issue of NH-2 expansion is amicable resolved and the land is declared unsurveyed land, no more meetings and talks will be entertained.
However, having faith in the Government, we once again attended the lengthy meeting considering that the Government would come up with a positive response to resolve the issue amicably" .
However, nothing has changed and it ended similarly without any solution like before.
More than ten unfruitful meetings had already been held and the association is fed up with such meetings, he added.
He pointed out that during the meeting, the association asked the government officials and the senior police officials whether the Government has any problem with the demands of the affected victims, but they responded that it (Government) has no problem at all.
He also stated that the meeting was the last and final meeting with the Government and that the association would not entertain any meeting/talk in the future, unless the government is ready to declare the affected land as 'unsurveyed land' and resolve the issue amicably.
The Asian Highway Land Affected Villages Chairmen/Chiefs Association (Taphou Kuki-Gamgiphai) further urged the government to act according to the wishes of the people if they do not have any problem with the demand of the affected victims.
