Imphal, May 15 2021:
Expressing grave concern that the ICU in the 100-bedded Thoubal district hospital is not functional amidst the crucial times of Covid-19 second wave, Wangkhem AC MLA K Meghachandra urged the chief minister to look into the matter so that ICU starts working without any delay.
In a release, Meghachandra stated that the district hospital has ICU, anaesthetist and all other required doctors.
However, it is unfortunate that the ICU in the hospital is not working during these critical times.
Drawing the attention of chief minister N Biren, he urged to look into the matter where ICU is not functioning despite having basic infrastructure.
He pointed out that Covid-19 fatality rate surged in Thoubal during the second wave.
So, the chief minister should make sure that the ICU functions so as to save the lives of the people.
Many Covid positive patients of the district have died as the ICU is not working, he lamented.
Meghachandra further informed that out of the seven ventilators given by the state government, there are only five in the hospital as two ventilators were taken back by the government.
