TBBT observes World Sexual Health Day

Reckitt led The Birds and Bees Talk programme (TBBT), observed World Sexual Health Day in the states of North East India across Manipur, Meghalaya, Sikkim and Nagaland.
As per a release of TBBT, workshops to increase outreach amongst tribal communities, self-help groups and youth to raise awareness around growing up life skills were organised as part of the initiative supported by Reckitt and Plan India.
The workshop in Manipur was attended by participants from 12 tribal communities along with representatives from local youth clubs and was attended by Tengnoupal deputy commissioner Mannaumching as chief guest, CJM Chandel retainer lawyer KH Jacky Lucy as guest of honour and Centre for Women & Girls director Hechin Haokip as special guest.
TBBT said that the Meghalaya workshop was organised with community residents, PTA groups, local youth groups and rural communities and was attended by Bhoirymbong CHC, Megha specialist I/C Dr T Sutnga as chief guest, CHC's adolescent counsellor Batyngshain Majaw as special guest and Women Police Station, Nongpoh, Meghalaya SI Wand harilyne Khongsit as guest of honour.
The workshop in Sikkim also included distribution of re-usable sanitary pads to self-help groups.
The guests in Sikkim included Rakdong Tintek, Gangtok, Sikkim area in-charge Samdup Tshering, Sikkim State AIDs Control Society additional director Phoor Tshering Lepcha and youth & livelihoods consul tant Chung Chungla Bhutia.
Similarly, the workshop in Nagaland was supported by ed by guest speakers Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research clinical psychologist Dr Imlibenla Mongro-Domeh and Life-connect founder Salt Kez Ngullie, it mentioned.
The release also conveyed that on the occasion, Reckitt director external affairs and partnerships SOA Ravi Bhatnagar stated that Durex The Birds and Bees Talk has been working with youth, adolescents, teachers and parents to bring down the social and cultural taboos associated with growing up life skills.
"Through these workshops across NE, we aim to raise awareness and promote positive conversations around growing up among adolescents and youth.
With the key pillars of equity, consent, awareness, protection and inclusion, we believe that information and education can lead to positive changes, and build inclusive, healthier, and safer societies," he said.
On the other hand, DC Mannaumching said, "Women empowerment or gender equality doesn't mean only equal financial, social status or equal access but it should have equal sexuality right.
I appreciate efforts taken by TBBT team for this endeavour".
The workshops across the NE states included the introduction of TBBT, discus sion sessions, workshops on consent & protection with community and group activities on overall well-being of youths, it further stated.
