Imphal, June 06 2022:
Many condemned the bomb attack at the gate of Little Flower School, San gaiprou on Sunday morning.
Students and staff of the all-girl school on Monday staged a sit-in protest at the school gate, using placards inscribed with words like 'We want peace', 'We are the future save us' and 'Allow us to grow without fear' among others.
Speaking on the sidelines of the protest, a student protestor named Khomdram Prasantina urged not to repeat such crime at the school taking into account that education is everything for the students.
While drawing the attention of authorities concerned to look into the matter, she also appealed to all sections of the society to help maintain peaceful environment for the young students to pursue their life-goal.
Chipping in Little Flower School principal Maria Din-bung said that they want peace and appealed against causing fear in educational institutes.
There may be several issues, but the school has been trying to solve them from time to time.
The biggest issue that the school has faced is the grievances regarding school admission.
There are no issues other than that, the principal reasoned.
Meanwhile, United Association of Recognised Schools of Manipur president L Joy told media persons at Manipur Press Club here on Monday that the bomb attack at Little Flower School is anti thesis to the relentless campaign for making schools disturbance-free zone.
Stressing on the need to settle any outstanding issue through peaceful means with due consultation of school authority, he called upon all concerned not to cause any hindrance in the education sector.
Pointing out that student organisations have been launching movement for creating conducive atmosphere in educational institutions, Joy said that such attacks at the school, which is considered as 'temple of learning for students' has created panic among the students and their parents and guardians.
Teachers and parents, who attended the press conference, also denounced the bomb attack.
In separate releases, Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS), North East Students' Organisation (NESO) and All Manipur Gorkha Students' Union (AMGSU) have also strongly condemned the bomb attack at the gate of Little Flower School, Sangaiprou.
After the bomb blast, there has been fear psychosis among students and parents.
They feel insecure in the temple of learning.
Bomb culture at educational institution never brings any social development.
It only affects the academic achievement of young students who are the future pillars of the society.
Violence in or around schools is never acceptable, they added.
While appealing to the organisation/outfit responsible not to target the school in future, they further appealed to law enforcing authority to book the culprits as per the law of the land.
