Man assaults fish vendor

In a shocking incident, a 50-year-old man assaulted a 65-year-old woman, who was selling fish at the roadside of Tera Lukram Leirak Machin on Sunday evening.
The woman fish vendor has been identified as Ningthoujam Mangolnganbi Devi of Tera Khuraijam Leirak and the alleged assailant as Haobijam Babumacha Singh s/o (L) H Leiyon Singh of Tera Sapam Leirak.
According to the report filed at Lamphel PS by Mangolnganbi's daughter Ningthoujam Manglembi Devi on Monday, Mangolnganbi was selling some fish at the roadside of Tera Lukram Leirak Machin on Sunday at around 8.30 pm, when Babumacha came towards her mother.
He then misbehaved with her about her poverty, which led to an altercation between the two of them.
Babumacha then reportedly held her by the neck and punched her in the face.
Mangolnganbi then fell down on the road but Babumacha continued to kick her.
The assault left Mangolnganbi with severe injuries on her shoulder, chest and throat.
Later, she was taken to Shija Hospital for medical treatment.
Stating that the family had to delay filing the report as they were trying to get Mangolnganbi treated, Manglembi urged the police to take necessary action against Haobijam Babumacha for the inhuman act.
