Committee formed, bodies vow safeguard of integrity

Different organisa-tions, clubs and Meira Paibi organisations in Moirang assembly constituency or-ganised a joint meeting on Tuesday at Moirang Patlou and formed a body called 'Peace and Protection Com-mittee (PPC)' with head office at Moirang.
An ad-hoc executive committee for the PPC was also formed with Hemam Sotojit as interim convenor and Moirangthem Shanti - kumar as co-convenor.
The committee was formed to extend all possible help to the displaced people, act as a medium for communication between the people, coordi-nate among different sections of the public, take lead in re-storing peace and normalcy, and to resolve the issue.
The committee also informed that anybody can contact the committee through mobile numbers 9862252049 and 7005290742.Meanwhile, Apunba Mani-pur Kanba Ima Lup (AMKIL), Apunba Nupi Lup (ANL), Bishnupur and Senior Citizens for Society (SCS), Moirang stressed the need for collec-tive effort to uphold the in-tegrity of Manipur and resolve the present crisis through the dialogue process.
Addressing the media in Bishnupur town on Tuesday, AMKIL president & ANL, Bishnupur advisor Lourem-barn Nganbi Devi regretted that the clashes between Meetei and Kuki communi-ties, Kuki militants in par-ticular, have rendered thou-sands homeless and forced them to take refuge in relief camps.
She also appealed all to work for return of the dis-placed persons to their an-cestral homes and live har-moniously with each other.
Joining the media briefing, ANL president L Pramo Devi demanded withdrawal of In-dian Army from the state for their alleged involvement in the crisis termination of the So0 agreement signed with Kuki militants.
Meanwhile, in a release, SCS, Moirang secretary Dr 0 Gouro Singh urged the state and central governments to resolve the present crisis at the earliest.
Moirang and surrounding areas being a vulnerable area of present crisis, special care and attention need to be given to such a sensitive area, it added.
SCS also demanded the government to prevent/ control communal violence immediately; ensure that armed So0 cadres stay put at their designated camps and disarm them immediately; provide adequate food, water, clothing, cash and healthcare to the violence affected people taking shelter in relief camps; sanction & release ex-gratia to the victims' families imme-diately along with compen-sation to the injured persons, displaced & shelter-less with-out delay; rehabilitate victims of violence without delay in a time bound manner; and make special provision for education of students affected by the violence.
It also emphasised that up-holding Manipur's integrity should be the responsibility of both the government and
the civil societies.
