Govindas lays foundation stone for Moirangthong

Works minister Govindas Konthoujam on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for Moirangthong (bridge) to be constructed over the Nambul River in Takyel Khongbal area.
The bridge which is to be constructed under public works department at an estimated cost of Rs 1.8 crore is targeted for completion within two years.
Speaking at the foundation laying ceremony, minster Govindas informed that the bridge is to be constructed as part of the chief minister's 'transforming Manipur' programme and is targeted to be completed within two years' time.
However, local MLA Sapam Kunjakeshwar has affirmed to keep a close tab for completing the structure ahead of the specified target.
Maintaining that the construction of the bridge will fulfil the long-cher-ished dream of the people of Patsoi constituency, the minister expressed hope that with the completion of the bridge, there will be overall development in the area.
While expressing discontentment over the manner in which newly constructed roads are being dug up in the night for personal purposes, the minister appealed to the public to prevent such un-wanted activities for the welfare of all.
Earlier, while speaking as guest of honour of the function MLA Kunjakeshwar informed the gathering that the Moirangthong bridge will be double laned and 28 metres in length.
Though the bridge is targeted to be completed in two years',time, the MLA expressed confidence that it would be inaugurated and handed over to the public on January 25 next year, exactly one year after laying the foundation stone.
He also appealed to the people of the area to extend cooperation in the construction process.
MLA Kunjakeshwar also informed -that the Takyel Khongban road will be black topped before the onset of monsoon season.
Presided over by PWD chief engineer N Noren, the function was also attended by elders of the locality.
