YASH observance ends, prizes distributed

The four-day observance of 'Year of awareness on science & health' organised by Manipur Science & Technology Council (MASTEC) in association with Science Teachers' Forum Manipur (STFM) and Manipur Science Communicators' Association (MASCA) at MASTEC complex, Takyelpat concluded on Thursday.
The valedictory programme was attended by Science & Technology commissioner Devesh Deval, director Homila Hongrei, Central Agricultural University's Prof 1 Nabachandra Singh, MASTEC director Dr L Dinachandra Singh, STFM vice president Y Nabakumar and MASCA secretary L Somorjit as presidium members.
Several events including science exhibition, on-the-spot painting, science short play and science quiz were organised as a part of the event held to commemorate 75th year of India's independence and held on the theme of tackling Covid-19.Winners of the events were also awarded cash prizes and citations on the occasion.
In senior category (class IX to X) of on-the-spot painting competition, Daulas Lambamayum of St George High School, Wangkhei; Pre-sila Heikrujam of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Lamphelpat; and Yaikhombi Loitongbam, also of KV, Lamphelpat were presented the top three prizes while Ribirthson Maibam of Wangkhei High Shool, Wangkhei and Juliana Thoidingjam of KV, Lamphelpat were handed over consolation prizes.
In the Junior category (Class VI-VIII), Angela Heikrujam of KV, Lamphelpat; Julian Loitongbam of KV, Langjing; and Rajluxmi Moirangthem of Diligent Public School, Moirang received the prizes for first, second and third respectively, while Sunaina Saikhom of KV, Lamphelpat and Yaiphaba Ningthoujam of Wangkhei High School were awarded consolation prizes.
In the Sub-junior category (class III to V), Bikrama Lourembam of The Comprehensive School, Oinam won the first position and Irungbam Arbin Meitei of Mother' Pride Academy, Kwasiphai bagged the second position while Minerva Thoidingjam of KV, Langjing secured the third position.
The consolation prize winner in the category are Khumukcham Chaoremba Singh of KV, Lamphelpat and Aheibam Suriya of Little Flower School, Imphal.
In science short play competition, Wangkhei High School's play 'Eikhoi Lantheng Khanglashi' won first prize, Manipur Creative School'splay "Ihawai Marup Covid-19' secured the second and 'Cheksinbana Saphare' of Mother's Pride Academy's bagged the third prize.
In written quiz competition, New Public Higher Secondary School student Elangbam Boris Singh bagged first prize; New Public Higher Secondary School's Chongtham Linson, Mayarani Yumlembam of Paree Imom Sindam Shang and Nivarani Laishram of New Public Higher Secondary School shared the second prize; while Paree Imom Sindam Shang students S Galaxy Chanu and Anjana Thokchom were joint winner of the third prize.
Class IX student of Mother's Pride Academy Naorem Benson, Class VIII student of Mother's Pride Academy Oinam Sweety Devi and Wangkhei High School Class X student Athokpam Abhijeet Luwang won the first, second and third prize in science model competition respectively.
