Imphal, October 21 2021:
Giving special focus on sports and taking up extra initiatives in this field could help resolve the issue of drug abuse, said RK Rameshwar, who is preparing to fight the upcoming assembly election from Patsoi assembly constituency.
Attending a public meeting organised in his support by Changangei Apunba Unit Committee at Changangei Water Supply ground on Thursday, Rameshwar said that the government is carrying out its war against drugs but giving special focus on sports and diverting the attention of the youth towards sports could be a promising solution to the drug issue.
He took the decision to contest the election after seeing several loopholes in the development initiatives taken up by the elected representatives of the constituency.
Besides, people of Patsoi AC are deprived of various schemes takeh up by the government and his main priority is to provide the benefits of these schemes to all the eligible people and also to bring inclusive development in the constituency.
There is a culture of elected representatives remaining in their official residences far away from the public for the whole term and coming back only at the time of election, RK Rameshwar pointed out, while adding that he wants to break this trend and bring positive changes in the constituency.
Manipur University retired professor W Nabakumar, local leaders Longjam Gopinath, Naorem Bir Khuman and Thingnam Ibomcha attended the public meeting as presidium members.
