AR units conduct lecture, construct community hall

Churachandpur Battalion, of IGAR (South) organised a lecture on drug abuse for the youth of Heng kot village in Churachandpur district on Monday.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that aim of the event was to motivate the youth and educate them about the ill.
effects of drug abuse.
The lecture also highlighted on the importance of yoga and sports to fight drug abuse and motivated the participants number ing 40 youths to indulge in sports and fitness activities to improve their lifestyle.
They were also made aware about various government rehabilitation schemes to assist in detoxification and Nasha Mukti.
Meanwhile, Loktak Battalion of IGAR (South) organised motivational lecture for local youth of Kangvai to guide them about various entries in Indian Armed Forces and Central Armed Police Forces at Battalion Headquarters, Kangvai in Churachandpur district on Monday.
The Battalion took the opportunity as an initiative to gather around 35 local youths from Kangvai and contiguous area for the motivational lecture aimed at imparting knowledge on career prospects and recruitment procedure to join Indian Army through Technical Entry Scheme (TES), Agnipath and Central Armed Police Forces, other government and semi government sectors and admission in Rashtri-ya Indian Military College (RIMC).
The Battalion assured all local youth for all kind of assistance including free registration, theoretical classes, training of computer skills, physical training and communication skills.
On the other hand, Modi Battalion of IGAR (South) organised awareness lecture as part of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan for the locals at Wamku village in Chandel district on Sunday.
The awareness lecture was conducted to prevent the use of drugs while achieving the goal of a sustainable world free of drug abuse.
Villagers were informed about the menace of drug addiction, the impact on not only the individual but also their families and larger sections of society.
The youth were also briefed about higher education, career opportunities and the type of entries in Armed Forces.
A total of 65 locals attended in the event.
Meanwhile, Tengnoupal Battalion of IGAR (South) constructed and handed over a community hall at Molphei village under Operation Sadhbhavna to facilitate the village authorities organise meetings, functions and festivals.
Molphei village is located near the India-Myanmar Border and is one of the most remote villages of the Tengnoupal district, said the PRO in another release.
The PRO also informed that Keithelmanbi Battalion of IGAR (South) provided relief items to next of kin of late Md Sajid Khan of Lilong Mairenkhun who was killed by a drug peddler during an anti-drug operation carried out on January 16.The Assam Rifles provided essential items and stationeries to the kids.
Md Sajid assisted Manipur Police and ALADA in anti-drug operation and was murdered in cold blooded by the drug peddler.
He left behind his wife and two kids of 6 and 3 years old respectively.
