RIMS aiming to enhance profile: Director

Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) celebrated its golden jubilee on Tuesday at the Jubilee Hall of the institute with its medical superintendent H Priyosakhi, director A Santa, Dean Professor Ak Bhogen and RIMS former faculty Dr T Y Babu and Dr Premchand as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, director Santa highlighted that the institute has attained several achievements in its 50 years of public service and is now aiming for inclusion among the top medical institutes of the country.
Informing that RIMS was established on September 14, 1972, A Santa said that it was not an easy task for RIMS to reach the present stage.
The institute has produced 3560 doctors and 1968 specialist doctors till now.
Stgting that the year 2020-2021 could be considered as a remarkable one for the institute, A Santa said that many departments of the institute have been renovated and upgraded in the last one-two years and new machines installed including New Tesla MRI machines.
Moreover, 10 KL capacity liquid oxygen and 1000 LPM capacity PSA oxygen plants were also installed at RIMS under PM's Covid Fund during the critical Covid-19 pandemic crisis, he added.
Pointing out that RIMS is the most renowned medical institute in North East, Santa continued that the institute ranked 38th position in National Institutional Ranking Framework.
Such achievement is a pride for the institute, he added.
Gifts were presented to toppers of the institute as encouragement and RIMS souvenir and reports were published as a part of the celebration.
