Thoubal, November 10 2021:
Meira Paibi members of Langathel Mayai Leikai staged a sit-in-protest at Langathel Keithel Macha on Wednesday demanding award of befitting punishment to one Shagolsem Arnold (27) of Langathel Laikom Leikai, who is accused of involvement in the unwarranted disappearance of a Langathel local.
The protesting Women vigilantes contended that Arnold took a man from the village after luring the victim to do carpentry works at Moreh.
Both Arnold and the man left for Moreh on October 31 but Arnold returned home some days later without the man identified as Moi-rangthem Premdas (32) of Langathel Mayai Leikai.
Premdas' mother Mema, who also took part in the protest, told media persons that her son went out from home on October 31 to do carpentry works at Moreh along with Arnold but the latter returned home without her son.
"When asked about my son, Arnold replied that my son was still working at Moreh," Mema said, adding that Arnold's incomplete answer compelled her to file a missing person complaint at Khongjom police station and Arnold was arrested on November 5.She appealed to all concerned to locate the whereabouts of her son and not to release Arnold till finding her son.
A local woman also told media persons that residents of Langathel Mayai Leikai do not want people with dubious characteristics like Arnold and urged the police station concerned not to release Arnold till handing over Premdas to her mother.
