Differently abled briefed on welfare schemes

Persons with Differently-abled Development Society of Manipur (PWDDS) organised a one day awareness programme on welfare schemes for differently-abled persons at Keirao Makting Makha Leikai on Sunday.
The programme was attended by social worker MI Khan, Keirao Makting Gram Panchayat pradhan Muktiyar and AE Sanayai as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, MI Khan opined that a nation cannot become fully developed unless the differently abled people are considered as equal citizens.
In view of this, the Union and state governments have initiated various welfare schemes for differently abled people, he said and while lamenting that many differently-abled persons are still unaware of such schemes or they do not know how to apply for the same.
Hence, he pledged to-do his best to help them in availing benefits of such schemes.
MI Khan also appealed to the parents and guardians of differently abled children not to hide them but to assist and guide them properly so that they excel in whatever field they have talent for.
On the other hand, sponsor of the event, Abdur Rahaman, who is visually impaired, mentioned that many differently abled people are unaware of schemes provided by the government as well as benefits of possessing differently abled certificate or how to get them.
Hence, conducting such programmes will raise awareness amongst the differently abled people and expressed delight that he has b.een able to sponsor such a programme.
