Minister assures to spruce up Kangvai school

After a gap seven years since 2015, the Kangvai Higher Secondary School finally became functional after education minister Th Basanta Singh inaugurated the school in the presence of officials, students and people of the area on Tuesday.
During the event, class 10 students who recently passed matriculation examination and class 11 students were also felicitated.
The school was upgraded to the level of higher secondary school from high school in 2015 during the Congress government.
However, it could not be run as higher secondary school due to many reasons.
Nine students, who secured first division and the same number of students who got second division in the high school leaving certificate examination 2022, were felicitated during the inaugural event.
The school attained a pass percentage of 62.Minister Basanta during his speech assured to improve the infrastructure of the Kangvai Higher Secondary School and to provide recreational facilities to the school.
He also informed that there is an acute shortage of teachers in the entire state in a range from 7000 to 8000 and underscored the need for construction of residential schools in the hills.
He also mentioned the need for counsellors in schools to help students succeed academically and socially.
The education minister disclosed that the education budget is not enough, adding the education department is a crisis-laden department at the moment.
Henglep MLA Letzamang Haokip, meanwhile, drew the attention of the education minister that the Kangvai Higher Secondary School is the only higher secondary school under the Henglep assembly constituency.
