Skeletal remains recovered

Imphal, July 23 2022:
Skeletal remains, suspected to be of a woman and her daughter who were buried by the massive landslide which struck Marangching, Noney district on June 29, were recovered this afternoon.
After the tragic landslide hit the area on June 29, teams of NDRF, SDRF, army, paramilitary forces and local volunteers launched intensive search and rescue operations from June 30 onward.
The search operations were officially called off on July 20.However, local villagers continued the search operation with the help of Northern Frontier Railway and they recovered some skeletal remains this afternoon.
The skeletal remains are suspected to be those of Chuthuilu Gondaimei (27) of Marangching Part V and her two year old daughter Jenthaolu.
Police have taken the skeletal remains to JNIMS mortuary.
It is said that the villagers would continue their search operation tomorrow too.
Taking into account the skeletal remains of two individuals recovered today, 58 bodies have been recovered so far while three persons/bodies are still missing.
Nonetheless, 18 people were rescued on June 30 .
