While contending that political workers Lourembam Sanjoy, who is an intending candidate in Andro AC for the upcoming assembly election, were threatened at Huikap village; Angtha GP Ward no 7 Huikap Ward member Thangjam Binoy has urged authorities concerned to take appropriate action.
Addressing a press meet at Yairipok Yambem on Thursday, Binoy recounted that the women of Huikap along with workers of Sanjoy went to distribute gifts around 9 am on Wednesday.
When the group reached Huikap Makha Leikai area, another group of 30 people led by three workers of another intending candidate for the seat Andro AC intercepted them and aggressively threatened the former against sharing any related activities on social media platforms.
The aggressive group further, barged into the houses of the workers of Sanjoy from 8 pm to 11.30 pm on Wednesday and summpned them to be present at the community hall of Huikap Mayai Leikai by 7 am Thursday.
In this regard, a report was filed to Andro PS with a request to help the two sides reach a peaceful resolution.
Unfortunately, the four people who had filed the report were not only verbally harassed but also threatened with dire consequences, he conveyed.
Thus, Binoy urged the authority concerned to look into the matter and take strict security measures to allow the voters to vote for the candidate of their choice.
