Bitumen-laden hijacked trucks traced, drivers rescued

Imphal, September 16 2021:
A team of special commando unit on Wednesday rescued drivers and as sistant drivers of two Tata trucks which were reportedly hijacked on Wednesday.
The two trucks were transporting Bitumen from Guwahati to Imphal when they were hijacked by armed persons suspected to belong to an outfit which has signed peace agreement with the government of India.
According to police sources, reliable information about the hijacked trucks along with their drivers be ing kept in Lairou Ching area of Senapati district was received on Wednesday around 9 pm.
Acting on the inputs, a team of Manipur police special CDO unit Khabeisoi, Imphal East district led by its officer in-charge subedar L Bebekananda Singh, under the supervision of SP Railways and in-charge of Special CDO unit Th Krishnatombi Singh, rushed to Lairou Ching area along with a team of Senapati district Police and rescued the drivers along with their hijacked trucks.
The vehicles included a 10-wheeler truck (AS 01BC/8579) driven by Davinder Singh (45) son of (L) Dalbir Singh of Bhagupura, Punjab and second driver Nagen Das (42) son of (L) Narayan Das of Silguri Sualkuch Kuri in Kamrup district of Assam and a 12-wheeler truck (NL 02 Q/9318) driven by Jadwinder Singh (37) son of Balwinder Singh of Sdhawa in Punjab.
The estimated cost, according to the sources, of the Bitumen is about Rs 30,00,000 .
