Man nabbed with 1kg opium, cash

Churachandpur, May 06 2022:
A team of Churachandpur police station led by SI B Zairemthang arrested a drug trafficker from Thingkhangphai area on Friday and recovered 1kg contraband opium and Rs 50,000 in cash from his possession.
The nabbed trafficker has been identified as Paoneh Khongsai (42) son of of Paohao Khangsai of L Colon village, Churachandpur.
According to police, a team of Churachandpur PS was deployed at Thingkhangphai area upon getting a tip-off that one drug trafficker was coming to collect drugs.
At about 5.50 pm, the team detected 1kg contraband Opium kept and concealed inside the tool box of Paoneh Khongsai's Honda Activa (MN02 B-1889) .
The police team also recovered Rs 50,000 in cash from the same tool box.
The opium was packed and sealed in presence of witnesses and seized along with the cash, Activa and Paoneh Khongsai's mobile phone.
The seized items along with Paoneh were brought and handed over to OC of CCP-PS.
A regular case under FIR No 68(05)2022 CCP-PS U/S18 (b) ND&PS Act has been registered against Paoneh Khongsai for further investigation.
