Imphal, April 03 2022:
Though seen as a wealthy state by many outsiders, Manipur is in third spot among 10 poorest and unfortunate states of the country, stated Panthoibi Housing Finance Company Limited managing director Th Hemo and expressed his strong concern on the matter.
Th Hemo disclosed this during the launch ceremony of Panthoibi Housing Finance Company Limited's microfinance and gold loan section at Hotel Classic Grande here on Sunday.
In his speech, Th Hemo said that Manipur has very few people who pay taxes properly and become rich with white money while many people of the state are facing financial crisis as they could not repay loan as their spending exceeds earning.
According to Th Hemo, Panthoibi Housing Finance Company Limited is the first private financial institution of the North East states which received recognition of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the only housing finance company in the region.
He then appealed to people of the state to support company's efforts of making Manipur a financially sound state.
The launch ceremony was also attended by senior associate professor Dr Chinglen Maisnam of Manipur University, advocate Maisnam Korouhanba Luwang, IPSA vice president Khuraijam Athouba and Huiyen Laripao resident editor Khaidem Athouba as presidium members.
