Lilong Haoreibi College alumni meet held

The Lilong Haoreibi College Alumni Association celebrated its 2nd foundation day at the multipurpose hall of the college on Wednesday.
Jiribam MLA Ashab Uddin and alumni president Md Nasir Khan attended the event as chief guest and president respectively while college principal Dr Raheijuddin Sheikh, SDO Moirang Md Ziour Rahman, Lilong Haoreibi College Teachers Association president E Bhorot were present as guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Achab Uddin stressed on the dire need for development of the only higher educational institute located in the minority concentrated block.
He drew attention of all, who passed out from this institute, to extend their support towards development of the college.
Principal Dr Raheijuddin Sheikh recalled that the alumni association was established on November 23, 2020 in view of the requirements under the National Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC).
He also thanked the alumni members for their tremen-dous contributions towards the successful accreditation and assessment under NAAC in 2022 with the award of B Grade.
SDO Ziour Rahman emphasised on the need for strengthening the alumni association.
He also suggested for opening PG courses in some select subjects keeping in mind the Muslim girls, who dropped out after graduation from the same college.
As the college is the lone higher educational institute in Manipur having maximum enrolment of Muslim girls, special attention should be given for further development and sustenance, he said.
In all 11 alumni members, 14 retired teaching and non-teaching staff of the college and many other outstanding students were also felicitated as part of the alumni meet cum second foundation day celebration.
